Artwork by Manesh. Feel free to interpret this painting based on your own individual perspective.
This painting was created based on the unfortunate 2019 Hyderabad gang rape incident.
Save me. Save us. While my body was being ravaged by those demons, there were silent screams of my long gone sisters. Little Asifa was there. Nirbhaya was there. Priyanka was there. And so was Roja. Those screams could only be heard by my heart, but my mortal screams could not be heard by anyone. I’m bleeding terribly and my naked body, which was only seen by my parents during my birth, is bruised beyond recognition and exposed to these sex-deprived monsters. I wonder.. I wonder where did my motherland go wrong in protecting it’s daughters. I wonder why the protectors of my nation, the politicians, are still keeping quiet though thousands of my sisters have been sent to the immortal realm in the yesteryears. And I wonder how could these men, whom I’ve always considered as my brothers, be so inhumane to me when I’ve meant no harm to them. Here I am, waiting for further harm while they hide their horrendous sins. I’m tired. I’m trembling. I could not fight this alone. I’m scared. Save me. Save us.
REMINDER: This story is a realistic fictional narrative, however certain elements and the context in which the story takes place is based on true factual information and inspiration drawn from the headlines.
